Terms of Service

PLEASE READ THESE TERMS OF SERVICE CAREFULLY BEFORE USING RELEASEPILOT. BY ACCESSING OR USING THE SERVICE, YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THESE TERMS, DO NOT USE THE SERVICE.
1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User", "you", "your") and ReleasePilot ("we", "us", "our") governing your access to and use of the ReleasePilot service ("Service") available at releasepilot.vercel.app.
By creating an account, connecting a repository, or otherwise using the Service in any way, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent and warrant that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
2. Description of Service
ReleasePilot is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform that connects to GitHub repositories through GitHub OAuth authentication and repository webhooks to automatically generate structured release notes using artificial intelligence.
The Service includes repository management, AI-powered release note generation, hosted public changelog pages, subscription management, and related developer tools.
We continually improve ReleasePilot and reserve the right to add, modify, suspend, replace, or discontinue any feature, functionality, pricing, limitation, or part of the Service at any time without prior notice.
Such changes may be made to improve security, performance, reliability, usability, or compliance with applicable laws.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years old and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
The Service is intended for use by developers and software teams. You must have a valid GitHub account to use the Service.
4. User Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
You must provide accurate and complete information when using the Service. You may not impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, for any reason, including but not limited to violation of these Terms.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree NOT to:
- Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any applicable laws or regulations
- Connect repositories you do not own or do not have explicit admin permission to connect
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or its related systems
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the Service
- Use the Service to generate, store, or publish content that is defamatory, obscene, harmful, threatening, abusive, or violates the rights of any third party
- Use automated tools to scrape, crawl, or extract data from the Service
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
- Attempt to bypass any security measures of the Service
- Resell, sublicense, or otherwise commercially exploit the Service without our express written permission
- Use the Service to infringe upon any intellectual property rights of any party
We reserve the right to determine, in our sole discretion, what constitutes a violation of this Section and to take appropriate action, including immediate termination of your account without notice or refund.
6. GitHub Integration
By connecting a GitHub repository to the Service, you represent and warrant that:
- You are the owner of the repository or have explicit admin-level permission from the owner to connect it
- You have the authority to authorize the creation of webhooks on the repository
- The connection does not violate any third-party agreements, including GitHub's Terms of Service
You are solely responsible for the repositories you connect and for ensuring that connecting them to the Service does not violate any obligations you have to third parties.
7. Subscription Plans and Payment
Free Plan: The Free plan is available at no charge and is limited to one (1) connected repository. We reserve the right to modify the limits of the Free plan at any time.
Pro Plan: The Pro plan is available for ₹499 per month (Indian Rupees). Payment is processed by Razorpay, a third-party payment processor. By purchasing the Pro plan, you agree to Razorpay's terms and conditions.
Billing: Subscription fees are billed in advance on a monthly basis. Your subscription will automatically renew each month unless you cancel prior to the renewal date.
8. Refund Policy
ALL PAYMENTS ARE FINAL AND NON-REFUNDABLE.
Except where required by applicable law, subscription payments are generally non-refundable. By completing a payment, you acknowledge that your subscription grants immediate access to digital services and that refunds are not normally available after access has been provided., partial month usage, unused features, or any other reason whatsoever. By completing a payment, you acknowledge and agree that you are not entitled to a refund under any circumstances.
In the event of a billing error caused solely by our systems, we will review the case at our sole discretion. Any decision regarding remedies for billing errors is final.
If you are dissatisfied with the Service, your sole remedy is to discontinue use of the Service.
9. Intellectual Property
Our Property: The Service, including all software, trademarks, branding, logos, designs, interfaces, documentation, functionality, and related intellectual property, is owned by ReleasePilot and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
Your Content: You retain ownership of your repository information, commit messages, and other content you submit. By using the Service, you grant ReleasePilot a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to process, store, and display such information solely for the purpose of operating and improving the Service.
AI Generated Content: ReleasePilot generates release notes using artificial intelligence based on your commit messages. Generated release notes remain under your control.
User Responsibility: You are solely responsible for reviewing, verifying, editing, approving, and publishing any AI-generated release notes before relying upon or distributing them. ReleasePilot does not guarantee that AI-generated content will be accurate, complete, legally compliant, or suitable for any specific purpose.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.
ReleasePilot makes no guarantee regarding uninterrupted availability, uptime, performance, reliability, or error-free operation.
- The Service may occasionally be unavailable due to maintenance.
- Third-party outages may affect functionality.
- Infrastructure failures may temporarily interrupt the Service.
- Security incidents or events beyond our reasonable control may occur.
- AI-generated content may contain inaccuracies.
You acknowledge that use of the Service is entirely at your own risk.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL RELEASEPILOT, ITS OWNERS, OPERATORS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Loss of profits, revenue, or business
- Loss of data or data corruption
- Loss of goodwill or reputation
- Cost of substitute services
- Any damages arising from unauthorized access to your account
- Any damages arising from the accuracy or inaccuracy of AI-generated content
- Service interruptions or downtime
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE TOTAL AMOUNT PAID BY YOU TO RELEASEPILOT DURING THE THREE (3) MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability. In such jurisdictions, the above limitations apply to the maximum extent permitted by law.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless ReleasePilot and its owners, operators, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way related to:
- Your use of the Service
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any applicable laws or regulations
- Your violation of any third-party rights, including intellectual property rights
- Any content you submit, post, or transmit through the Service
- Your connection of repositories you did not have permission to connect
13. Third-Party Services
The Service integrates with third-party services including GitHub, Razorpay, Supabase, Vercel, and Groq. Your use of these third-party services is governed by their respective terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or practices of any third-party service.
14. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend, restrict, or permanently terminate any account, with or without prior notice, if we reasonably believe a user has violated these Terms, abused the Service, attempted unauthorized access, interfered with system security, engaged in fraudulent activity, or otherwise acted in a manner that may harm ReleasePilot or other users.
Users may discontinue use of the Service at any time. Termination of an account does not automatically entitle a user to any refund unless required by applicable law.
Sections relating to intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, governing law, and dispute resolution shall survive termination.
15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiations. If the dispute cannot be resolved through negotiation within 30 days, it shall be submitted to binding arbitration in accordance with the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 of India.
The seat of arbitration shall be Maharashtra, India. The language of arbitration shall be English.
You waive any right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration against ReleasePilot.
16. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
17. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and ReleasePilot with respect to the Service and supersede all prior agreements, understandings, and communications between you and us.
18. Force Majeure
ReleasePilot shall not be liable for any delay or failure to perform its obligations resulting from events beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, internet outages, government actions, labor disputes, cyberattacks, failures of hosting providers, failures of third-party services, or other unforeseen events.
